The Story Behind SoundVault
Martin Karm founded SoundVault with a clear ambition: to build concept-driven, high-impact electronic music experiences that Finland hadn’t fully seen before.
What started as focused club-scale events quickly evolved into larger productions with cinematic staging and strong thematic identity. Rather than simply booking DJs, SoundVault builds environments — merging sound, lighting, narrative and atmosphere into cohesive experiences.
From early techno gatherings to full-scale productions, their growth has been steady, strategic and community-oriented.
From Concept Nights to Full Festival Format
SoundVault’s evolution introduced elements rarely seen at this scale in Finland:
- 360-degree stage setups
- Narrative-driven event themes
- Immersive light and visual design
- A sharp focus on hard techno and hardstyle
The natural next step was a multi-day festival that consolidates these elements into one concentrated weekend.
Hosting the event at Suvilahti — Helsinki’s iconic industrial cultural area — strengthens the raw, urban aesthetic that aligns perfectly with SoundVault’s sonic identity.
What Makes SoundVault Festival Different?
A Clear Musical Direction
SoundVault doesn’t dilute its programming. Its focus on high-energy hard electronic genres creates a strong and recognizable brand within Finland’s festival landscape.
Production as Experience
Rather than treating staging as background, SoundVault integrates visual storytelling, spatial design and sound engineering into a unified concept.
Community-First Philosophy
The organizers consistently emphasize inclusivity, unity and dancefloor presence — values that resonate strongly with underground electronic culture.
Nordic Roots, International Ambition
While deeply connected to Finland’s scene, SoundVault’s scale and identity signal long-term growth beyond national borders.
Doubleclap Radio Meets the SoundVault Organizers
As part of our collaboration, Doubleclap Radio had the opportunity to meet the team behind SoundVault and dive deeper into their philosophy and future direction.
Beyond lineups and headliners, we wanted insight into the vision shaping the festival’s growth.
Here are five key questions we explored — and believe every electronic music fan would want answered:
1. SoundVault events are known for immersive concepts and bold staging. Where do these ideas originate, and how central is storytelling to your event design?
The idea originated from our pursuit of building a completely new universe to experience music and connect with people. To create this, we have been working on a deep story line and using special effects to bring that to life.
2. As SoundVault expands into larger festival formats, how do you maintain underground credibility and authenticity?
First and foremost, we curate our lineups based on the music that truly resonates with our values from the message point of view and has the quality that we believe is considerably outstanding.
3. Community and unity are recurring themes in your messaging. What practical steps do you take to ensure your events remain safe and inclusive spaces?
We work very closely with our security team, they are not strangers to our mission. We welcome everyone as they are without any discrimination for physical appearance. On the other side, we are very clear that anybody with ill intentions, misbehaviour or violent messages are not allowed in our events. We have a low tolerance for drugs and harassment. In our bigger events, we have designated personnel for harassment and safety.
4. What can visitors expect from SoundVault Festival 2026 that differentiates it from other electronic festivals in Finland?
The level of immersion we are aiming for the stage designs and decorations are not the usual cookie cutter, we are going to be bold and intentional with our decisions. Since we are so community focused, we will have multiple activities from dance classes to tarot readings.
5. Looking five years ahead, how do you envision SoundVault influencing hard electronic culture in the Nordic region?
We will become the most interesting festival to visit in the Nordics. By creating an absolutely unique experience from the sound and story telling to the immersion of the universe that the event will be. Also, we will have an incredible network of activities within the festival to transform it into a place where you can actually connect with new people and make incredible experiences.
We look forward to sharing deeper insights from these conversations across our radio shows and digital channels.
